Volunteer

Because you have arrived at this page, it may mean that you are thinking that you might like to work with us as a volunteer.  There are many ways that volunteers could help us in South Sudan.  For example, we could use teacher trainers, health care workers, agricultural experts, and people with experience in micro-loans and very small scale businesses.

In 2013, two adventurous brothers from British Columbia, Chris and Josh Hergesheimer, spent time with their friend Kolong in Majok Adim.  They did not go empty handed.  Chris had designed a bicycle powered mill to grind grain into flour.  They built a model and left it with the people of the village just before fighting broke out in South Sudan in December of that year.  PADA arranged for their successful evacuation from the country.   The brothers recounted their experiences in a book titled: "The Flour Peddler, A Global Journey into Local Food from Canada to South Sudan".

Unfortunately, we are not in a position to pay salaries or expenses, but we could help with travel arrangements in South Sudan and in getting into and out of South Sudan.

If you would be interested in volunteering, but aren't sure about coming to South Sudan, we could still use your help.  For example, you could help organize fundraising events in your community, or identify and put us in touch with people or organizations that might be interested in contributing to or partnering with us.

Our thanks to Reuben Jones, a web designer and much more in Vancouver BC, who was instrumental in creating and designing this website.  His support was, and is, invaluable.

Please give it some thought and get in touch with us, letting us know about your interests, skills and experience.  We'd love to hear from you.
